Both Sides Now- Joni Mitchell

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at cloud that way.
But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone.
So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall.
I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and Junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real; I've looked at love that way.
But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions i recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "I love you" right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say
I've changed.
Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall.
I really don't know life at all.

These lyrics make my heart constrict. I like them.

The progress of an artist is a continual self-sacrifice, a continual extinction of personality. - T.S. Elliot

I'm coming across all these good quotes as I panic about my grad write-up.

Forget regret or life is yours to miss.

This weekend has been so weird...
Boiled vegetables with Vienna and Prague
Tea and an hour-long aptitude test
Constipated activity book humour
and a great troupe of extended familiars.

My life is verging on extreme complication...
I don't know if I can wait or not.

Australians and Italians

Everyone is so into facebook now that I really don't think livejournal is all that great anymore...
I guess it's better for writing about life, because the "notes" on facebook can be read by every single one of your contacts.

So, I need to apply at Safeway ASAP. The guy at the Broadmoor location is very very creepy. Dark hair, glasses... sort of reminds me of Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. Jeepers CREEPERS.

And Valentine's Day... callbacks first of all... those were so crazy. We are in serious lacking of male actors. And then I was walking home and Danielle picked me up off the street and gave me a ride home- so generous... I basked happily in the warmth of her car and a cinnamon dolché latté.

Life is so darn unpredictable. I love it.

Right now I need to call Daniella and see if we're still going to Oakridge. I slept so long :)

I need a job so badly.
Applied to Safeway but they're remodeling and won't be hiring possibly until February and even then the manager doesn't know if HE'S going to be the one doing the hiring.
Shopper's doesn't hire teenager people...
Starbucks is impossible.
McDonalds is just totally gross. People would order a Big Mac and fries and instead of asking them if they'd like to Supersize, I'd be like, "Are you SURE you want that?" I couldn't bear the smell or clogged arteries.
Cob's and Subway are both boring.
I'm not Japanese so I can't work at the sushi places.

I asked my mom if I could work at the airport and she said no.

Today is so bleary in contrast to yesterday! I have to bundle up and head over to Blundell Centre and try try again.
Have fun at Swing Night all you who are going!

Winter Formal!

I'm so happy that I went to winter formal! I had a fantastic time :) I've never known some people to dance, but it was so much fun because everyone was dancing... I mean, I wouldn't usually dance but if I hadn't I would have been sitting there the whole evening just regretting not getting up there.

My day beforehand was go go go! I had my hair appt at 5, and I predicted that it would go to 6, but she ended up needing more time, so I didn't get out of there until 6:30 and then I drove over to Tina's for make-up, which took until 7:20-ish and then I had 10 minutes to get home before Brendon came and then we were off!

The decorations at Mayfair were really well done :) Hats off to the crew! And thanks to our lovely photographers as well!

Afterwards, Gil took me to the BP gathering and then we headed over to her place for the night. After removing the fifty-some-odd bobby pins from my hair and washing out all our hairspray gunk and reminiscing, we didn't get to sleep until 3 :P

My winter formal pics are at:
